Top 5 free video streaming services
Continuing from our last article in this series about the Top 5 TV shows on Netflix we now have the Top 5 best free video streaming services. Obviously this means our criteria is websites that let you watch content without needing any sort of subscription fee or one time payment. As streaming is now immensely popular you’ll find that you can watch a lot of your favourite movies or films online for free maybe just with the occasional advert here or there. For a lot of people that is worth the price tag of free.
Not all of these websites are available worldwide so you may well need the help of Smart DNS. Smart DNS allows you to enter websites from anywhere in the world whether they are geo-blocked or not. There is no speed loss and it is simple to set up, perfect for streaming media.
BBC iPlayer
I see iPlayer as one of the best free online streaming services around, there is constant high quality content available all the time and all with absolutely no adverts, the player itself may be a little dodgy but overall it all works just as you would expect it too. Of course iPlayer has the likes of Sherlock, Luther and lots of sports available for people to watch, so there is always something for everyone.
4oD
The sheer amount of films and programmes available on 4 on Demand is staggering, they have pretty much everything they have ever aired on TV available on the website, all for free just with adverts every so often but it is very worth it. Channel 4 has created some of the best and most popular TV shows of all time, stuff like Black Mirror, IT Crowd and The Inbetweeners just to name a few.
Hulu
Whilst I feel Hulu’s dependency on adverts even for those that pay the subscription is over the top, like adverts before and after opening credits, it still has a lot of content available for free. With stuff like South Park and American Dad all available without having to pay a penny, it is good value for money, whereas I feel paying and still getting a lot of ads is a bit scummy.
ITV Player
I don’t personally like a lot of the output from ITV but there is a reason it is pretty much the most popular channel in the UK, it has a lot of programmes that appeal to the masses, usually programmes like Britain’s Got Talent. I use it mainly just to watch the England matches, Champions League or the FA Cup. Still it works well and is ad supported and all of the content available is of high quality.
Crackle
Crackle doesn’t necessarily have the latest when it comes to its selection but I has a solid collection of films and TV shows to watch. Stuff like Joe Dirt, Meet the Fockers, The Fifth Element and many more. As for TV they have the likes of Seinfeld and many popular anime. The adverts aren’t even that bad, they aren’t all that obtrusive and you never feel that there are too many, which for an ad supported service, is very high praise.
