Drenched in blood and scheming with a convincing Viking backdrop it really succeeds in enveloping you in the time period and lives of the characters. You can’t really ask much more from a TV show and Vikings is definitely in the upper echelons of TV entertainment. I don’t think it has the power to outdo the behemoth that is Game of Thrones but there is a place for something a little different and it fills a niche I think very well. It won’t be remembered as fondly but it will continue to have its cult following I am sure.
