How to set up OpenVPN on Android

This tutorial will show you how to set up OpenVPN on Android using SmartyDNS.

To set up SmartyDNS easily we recommend to use the SmartyDNS app.

Here are the steps you should follow:

In order to set up OpenVPN on Android, download the OpenVPN configuration files, unzip the downloaded folder and save it to the SD card of your device, so you can find it later.
Download the app OpenVPN Connect app, install and open it.
Tap on FILE.

Tap on ALLOW to allow the OpenVPN Connect app to access files on your device.
Find the folder whith the OpenVPN configuration files and open it, then choose the desired server’s config file and tap on Import.
Type your VPN username.

To find your VPN username and password, sign in to your account on our website, go to Setup -> VPN Username & Password. If you don’t have a SmartyDNS account, you can try our services for free for 3 days.

Tick the Save password checkbox.

Type your VPN password.

Tap ADD.
Tap the on/off toggle to connect to VPN.
